How can you be sure that the savings we’ve quoted in litres and pounds bear any relation to the savings you can make in the real world?

While we’re neither a government agency nor a bunch of scientists or economists, we have gone one better than simply a few scribbles on the back of a fag packet.

We’ve calculated every figure with as much information as we could lay our hands on, including:

  • Basic cost of a litre of water in the UK = 0.13 pence per litre [Source: Ofwat]
  • Average cost to supply and take away a litre of water = 0.20p [Source: Ofwat]
  • Average household occupancy in the UK 2.65 [Source: UK Government National Statistics]
  • Average water consumption is 160 litres per day per person [Source: Ofwat]
  • Estimated usage one person can save each day = one-third [Source: Waterwise]

So, rest assured that by buying, installing and using the water-saving products we feature, you will save approximately the amounts of water and money we indicate.

In fact, based on the above statistics, the average UK household can save over £100 a year off their water bill.

Small print

We have made a real effort to ensure accuracy wherever we have made a claim about the products we sell. It is important to us that you can realistically assess how much water you can save – only by really getting to grips with our individual and household water consumption can we help to make a difference.

Water-saving figures are based upon information from the product manufacturers. If your usage is higher than average, you would save a greater amount.
