It costs nothing to lower your water and energy bills

Even if you’re not on a water meter, you can still save on your energy bills by reducing your hot water use – up to 25% of your energy bill will be used to heat water.

And you can use the money you save to buy those things you and your family really enjoy, like a meal out, a trip to the cinema or those dancing lessons you’ve been meaning to take.

Our Water Savings Calculator determines your actual water usage. At the start, you get to personalise the questions to suit your home, so if you don’t have a car, we won’t ask you how often you clean it. On completion – it’ll take no more than 5 minutes – we’ll provide you with your own personalised water, energy and spend profile, a number of FREE water saving products that are easy to install (where you qualify and subject to participating Water Companies), and tell you what and how you could save by following a few simple tips.

Really good idea!! I had no idea how much money is wasted leaving a running tap when cleaning teeth or washing hair! I need to save every penny being a single mum with 2 children - thanks.

The shower timer means we're all concious of how long we take and the water reducing bag in the cistern has made a big difference.

Tips

  1. According to the Energy Saving Trust 2012, cutting just a minute off your shower time could save £15 in energy bills, and a further £15 in water bills if water is metered, per person, per year – or £120 saved a year for an average four-person household.
  2. Fix a dripping tap. A dripping tap can waste as much as 48 litres of water a day, or 17,500 litres of water a year.
  3. Install a water butt to your drainpipe and use the water collected to water your plants, clean your car and wash your windows.
