Eco-Kettle

Question: how can you save water with a kettle? Answer: with an Eco-Kettle which allows you to boil only the water you need – and faster, too  - saving you time as well as saving water, energy and money.

Inside the Eco Kettle is an internal reservoir which holds a full 1.5 litres capacity of water. Simply use the measuring button to release any quantity – from a single cup to the entire kettle – into a separate chamber for boiling. So not only do you use the right amount of water every time you boil the kettle, you also save on electricity.

In fact, the Energy Saving Trust found that Eco Kettles use almost one-third less energy than standard kettles.

So you win all round.

I've had mine for 4 years now & it's developed a leak so I'm about to purchase a new one. It is heavier than a standard kettle so maybe not suitable for an elderly person. I can't see how it would save water but I'm sure it saves electricity so I recommend it.

I have had one of these Eco kettles since they were first introduced, they are really economical and easy to use. I have just bought 2 more of these for Christmas presents, and I must add that this company is absolutely brilliant and nothing is too much trouble for them. Will certainly trade with them again. Thanks Tim

This kettle is very good and fast when your boiling just a cup of water, and definately saves time, electrcity and water. There are only a few down falls for this kettle. The first being if you filled the central reservoir to the top, some people, eg my wife and maybe older people would find this heavier than a normal kettle when pouring your single cup out. The second being that 200ml literally only fills a tea cup from a tea service, as most people use mugs, you have to compensate for this.

I found this product no better than my current kettle. Any kettle with a scale in cups or millilitres on the outside enables you to use water wisely and only boil the amount you need, you don't need one of these for that. The main disadvantage with this kettle is that any water that you don't put through into the boiling chamber is left in the main reservoir resulting in a heavier kettle when pouring than you'd otherwise have with a normal kettle. I found that it boiled no quicker than my current kettle and seemed bulkier in design (I'd have thought a true eco kettle should use less materials ideally?). The valve you press to move water from one compartment to the other is quite stiff and the quick option to completely fill the boiling chamber still results in excess water being left in the main compartment. The base it sits on is bigger than my current kettle's base and therefore occupies more space on the kitchen counter. The literature says that "conveniently measuring the correct amount of water to be boiled has not been easy" but I disagree - work out how big your cups/mugs are (mine are 300ml) and fill up to the appropriate amount which represent how many cups you're making. This product's cup size is for 200ml and for me this ironically made measuring the correct amount a bit harder than normal! Overall this product is heavier than necessary and I don't think it saved me any water or electricity. Would recommend you get a normal kettle with a good scale on it instead. The one positive thing I'd say about the kettle is that it had a nice pour!

On first examination the eco kettle looks smart and robust. There are two large clear sight windows with graduated markings. These markings are shown as cups full so putting in just the right amount is very easy. The operation of the kettle once i became familiar with it was straight forward. The kettle differs from a conventional one in that instead of just one compartment for water, there are two.To fill the kettle, open the lid and pour in the desired amount,up to seven cups.In effect this becomes a reservoir for the boiling compartment.A large button on the top is pushed down until you have the desired amount of water in the boiling section,up to five cups. The minimum amount of water is just one cup, switching on the kettle its very quiet in operation.Boiling enough for one cup takes an amazing thirty seconds!Day to day the product is very easy to use,the only thing to remember is once filled you have to meter the required into the boiling compartment. To conclude,i would recommend the kettle to anyone serious about saving energy and water.

Overall a good and sturdy product. A little on the heavy side particularly if pouring a small quantity of heated water when the main reservoir is topped up. Concept is good and is likely to improve awareness of water and energy consumption with anyone wanting to make the effort. Possibly an over complex operation for the already ‘eco friendly’ who routinely just fill and heat only as much water as is required.

My partner and I are both very impressed with this kettle. It is very simple to use. We did have any problems forgetting to fill the resevoir but I understand that there is a cut out option if you do find this a problem initially. I haven't found the kettle particularly heavy and really love the fact that it boils quicker than any other kettle. I note that some reviewers have said that you could just fill any other kettle up to the required amount and thus not boil more water than is necessary, which is true but it would still be more expensive than this kettle as this ones so powerful and therefore quick. I will be recommending this to all my friends.

A good product boils quick at just the right amount of water, the only downside to the kettle was that my wife found it difficult to lift when the kettle was full.

i think this kettle is a very good idea, it definately helps on not wasting water, as i did always fill my old kettle, but now with the reservoir, you can fill it and just transfer what you need when you need it and it is all very simple. I dont not think that the kettle is any heavier than other kettles when full, but you do need to really tip it when there is only a small amount in it. i would say the only thing to watch with the kettle is to make sure the lid is flush at both sides after you fill up reservior, as it is stiff, but makes it all the better when it boils as it doesnt loose as much energy. overall I think that it is a really good kettle and will recommend to my friends, as anything we can do to do our bit for the environment and saving water can only be a good thing.

The Kettle ia heavy when full and not very steady on its base unit. Overall a good product, feels strong and very quick to boil. Would be nice in different colours.

No more wasted water and less electricity used. Definitely a plus point with electricity prices so high. It boils more quickly than any other kettle I've had. The boil-dry protection proved useful whilst I was getting used to this product as I forgot to transfer water to the boiling chamber a couple of times. On the negative side, the kettle seems very heavy. As I'm disabled and have reduced strength in my arms, I found I could only use it up to the 3 cup full mark. Lifting a full kettle proved impossibe. Due to the spout design the kettle had to be tipped over further than any kettle I've used to pour the water.

The kettle is quite heavy when full although it is a good idea to transfer water from the resevoir to the part that is used for boiling the water. Perhaps the kettle is a little too elaborate, as you could use any electric kettle with just the amount of water needed as most kettles have a gauge on the side. I personally didnt like the spout as the kettle needed to be well tipped up to allow the boiled water out. On a positive note I will say that the kettle was very quick to boil.
